There are so many people who are championing Indigenous education in our classrooms and communities, take a moment before April 8th, 2022 to nominate them! Or if you are that person, you can nominate yourself too!

“In a racist society, it is not enough to be non-racist, we must be anti-racist.” This quote from Angela Y. Davis kept coming up as I worked with educators this week who were learning about how to address systemic racism within schools and communities.

To the educators who go the extra mile, who honour relationships with their students, who provide increased access to resources with no shame and provide safe spaces for connection that are increasingly valuable to the mental health of students: thank you for being so extra! We see you and appreciate you!

I hope that I can keep leaving comments that make people happy too - doing the same thing Ms Holmes still does for me to this day, 25 years later! I hope that my actions can fill others with happiness and motivation too.

That's the kind of teacher I want to be!

Christine M’Lot is a Anishinabe educator who has developed a fantastic series of 3 videos around goal setting and the medicine wheel. After checking them out myself, I can tell you that you would benefit, especially as we look to 2021, from making sure you are setting goals in a good way. This tool allows us to do just that.
