Red City Moments on Ziibi 104.7fm

Tansi relatives,

I have so many (three lol) exciting things to tell you!

  1. Winnipeg has a brand new radio station that features Hip Hop, R&B, Pop, Dance & Indigenous music from the 90s all the way to today and it is called Ziibi 104.7fm. It is operated by the same folks who do NCI FM and also, you may remember the former life of this radio station when it was Streetz FM.

  2. Other than playing the best music, it is a community radio station and that is reflected in all elements of their identity from their name ziibi, which means river in Anishinabemowin (Ojibwe) to their tag line “where music and community flows”.

  3. These awesome recurring segments began airing last week every couple hours called Red City Moments that I am honoured to be voice of!

Red City Moments

These short clips provide historical and educational information about our city and its original inhabitants, aimed at non-Indigenous listeners to learn more about their First Nations, Metis and Inuit neighbours, friends and relatives. They are short, between 30 seconds to a minute, but they provide excellent information that we hope will be helpful for education on the history, understanding of the present and positive actions for the future.

Check out the video below to see an example of a Red City Moment I was able to catch while listening to Ziibi on their app (Radio Player Canada):
