In June, the province of Manitoba released data on “the experiences of Black, Indigenous and racially marginalized patients and staff in emergency departments”. On behalf of the Manitoba Health coalition, our provincial director and myself, chair of Indigenous Health committee authored this article on the Canadian Center for Policy Alternatives - Manitoba website calling for more systemic action to confront racism in our province.

“In a racist society, it is not enough to be non-racist, we must be anti-racist.” This quote from Angela Y. Davis kept coming up as I worked with educators this week who were learning about how to address systemic racism within schools and communities.
