Website Refresh & New Photos
Lighten up Michael! Don’t be boring! Looking ahead to the year of 2024 I wanted to brighten up my online presence and presentations - inspired by the titled page of my first kids book We Need Everyone (out January 2024). The wavy lines, yellow, red and teal colouring and the new MRC logo will help me step into the new year with a little more colour, movement and excitement! Special shout out to Travis Ross for taking the photos, Ayozak for styling, Chante for the curl support, beadwork by Grace & Angie for her vision!
Housing Is A Human Right
You’re invited to this free virtual event that will bring together a number of leaders in the housing sector to discuss how housing as a human right can help us eliminate homelessness.
Be A Better Settler
I'm so honoured to be part of this awesome project where artist Lani Zastre interviews and hand sketches in pencil a number of Indigenous folks in the community. I also answered a question of what I would like to see happen in terms of how non Indigenous people can live together with Indigenous peoples, you’ll be surprised how I answered!
Michael on APTN InFocus on Indigenous Youth Organizing
Thank you to APTN InFocus and host Darrell Stranger for having me on their episode that highlighted the importance of Indigenous youth organizing. I was one of 4 folks interviewed for this and was honoured to talk about the importance of language, We Need Everyone and what I mean when I say revolution!
The Adventures of May, June & July
August has been a quieter month for me and I appreciated the time to focus on resting, self care and reflecting on the adventures of the last few months. I wanted to take a moment to share with you some of the activities I have been involved in in the last few months. I look forward to seeing many of you soon!
Sowing Seeds Together
Thank you to the National Association of Friendship Centres for having me as one of their keynote speakers for their youth conference this year in Enoch, Alberta! Check out a couple of photos, my presentation and a few links I referenced in my presentation.
