Sowing Seeds Together

Shout out to the youth leaders who take up space and to the knowledge keepers and caregivers who love and protect them!

I was honoured to speak to a room full of youth leaders from across the National Association of Friendship Centres movement and it was a joy! I love seeing youth who are passionate about creating and building up systems that are safe and can make positive impacts for many generations to come. It warms my heart when I see kookums and mooshums, aunties and uncles, sharing their knowledge, love (and jokes) with young people, and this was happening the whole time I was there.

Congrats to the youth who were elected to the executive and a special shout out for the youth who ran but didn't get elected, their courage is what I aspire to. It was an unexpected moment, but I really enjoyed being able to talk about the importance of receiving the compliments that people share with you, it was a reminder that I needed to hear too. Thank you, kinanaskomitin.

From the knowledge, language and ceremony keepers, with leadership and helpers like this, the future is looking bright!
