Search The Landfill

We have money for helicopters and international sporting events. But we don't have money for libraries being open on the weekend.

We have money for robot dogs and and forensic searching graffiti and hand prints. But we don't have money for preventing the missing persons cases, 80% or more of which are kids from child welfare running from placements.

We have money for communicating on social media when the police have been threatened or wronged. We do not have money to #SearchTheLandfill / #SearchTheLandfills.

Following the money tells us a lot about what our city values and what our city does not value. It is a difficult time for Indigenous women, children and families in Winnipeg right now.

I don't know what the answer is but I know that performing some searches, the community/city/province/feds working together to support it, some public education and some empathy/kindness could go a really long way right now.
